What can you tell us about the likely offtakers for the cast steel product?
The Agbaja Cast Steel Project is well located to serve the internal Nigerian market, being sited geographically in the centre of the country it is to some extent ‘surrounded’ by potential customers. Click here for a map showing the currently operating steel mills of Nigeria, all of which could potentially take our product. We have had discussions with several of these operations and at the appropriate time will be progressing with selected groups towards formal offtake arrangements.
What can you tell us about coal supplies for the project?
There are several possible sources of coal in the region. Some are currently in production and some are currently in construction. For commercial reasons we do not wish to reveal too much about our discussions but can state that we have positive test work on one deposit and another currently being completed. We are in pre test work discussions with several other potential sources. This process will be on going and ramp up as we approach the project build.
Are the licences and agreements for the Agbaja Cast Steel Project in the name of Kogi Iron or another entity and how secure are they?
The licences are all held by KCM Mining Ltd which is 100% owned by KCM Mining Holdings Pty Ltd, which is itself 100% owned by Kogi Iron Limited. So, the assets are 100% controlled and owned by the shareholders of Kogi Iron Limited.
The Mining and Exploration licences and the Community Development Agreement are all held in the name of Kogi Iron Limited or its wholly owned subsidiaries and not any one individual officer of the company or person and, as such, reside within the Kogi Iron Limited group as fully owned and secure assets.
All licences and agreements are current and in good standing and all fees due have been paid by Kogi Iron Limited or its wholly owned subsidiaries.
